What is NLP?

"Hi Mark,
The speed of the changes have really surprised me after the 3 Day to Optimise Your Life workshop.
It is not so much about my own activity and taking action, but being open to new possibilities and going with the flow.

I had already made some major changes before the course, but I did not have a clear picture as to where to go next.

The course helped me to see my life and choices in the light of my strongest values, and that was the major finding that pushed me in the right direction, the direction that I want.
And again, the speed of the changes has been faster than I expected - thank you Mark!"

"Hey Mark, I really wanted to thank you for working with me at the seminar!

You're really a fantastic hypnotist and I winded up having a pretty amazing time."

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is the study of success.

Mark says: "NLP is a methodology, an attitude, and a series of techniques, designed to identify, work with, and change patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving

How I define NLP is as a user's guide to the brain, with the brain being an organic super-computer.

The software that we run the brain with is made up of sensory data collected via the five senses, comprising of pictures, sounds, feelings/tactile sensations, smells, and taste sensations.

From this raw sensory data we build our model or map of the world. Sometimes our pictures, sounds, etc., help us, and sometimes they hinder us.

What I do is help people do better in life by teaching people how to think on purpose, and to have fun along the way."

"Where did NLP come from?"

NLP was originally co-created by Richard Bandler, a mathematician and computer programmer, and John Grinder, a professor of linguistics. They met in the 1970s at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Richard Bandler and John Grinder ceased working together in the early 1980s.
